On Saturday, Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) and several other elected officials boosted Fox News host Glenn Beck at an event at the Oil Palace in Tyler, TX. The day was full of right-wing flame-throwing, including Perry saying that he was "proud" to be in an "army" of anti-Obama Americans. Another prominent theme during the event was that the country has "drifted far away from its founding values":
Check out their most recent work in sheer lunacy.
Gov. Rick Perry, U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Tyler, and state Rep. Leo Berman also spoke, all delivering similar messages.
Berman told the crowd, "I believe that Barack Obama is God's punishment on us today, but in 2012, we are going to make Obama a one-term president."
Gohmert said, "The longer we go, the more we see how important it is to stick with principles."

Our esteemed Texas Republicans are gifts that keep on giving to comedians David Letterman, Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, SNL and others. There will be a lot of late night TV entertainment coming our way real soon. Get your popcorn ready folks.
The time in which God really punished us is from 2000 to 2008. After eight long, dark and miserable years of W. we find ourselves at the bottom of hell. Jobs are gone. Homes are gone. Retirement pension funds and savings have bitten the dust too. Everything the Bush Administration touched on behalf of the American people turned to sh*t. And now the Texas Republicans counterparts in Washington have demonstrated that they want to take things back to the olden days of the Bush Administration.
This is one of the reasons for which the entire national Republican Party continues to stand by its man on Wall St.
Ten years of Rick Perry have likewise taken us to an even lower level in hell. Our schools are ranked at the bottom of the national pile. Our high school drop rates have increased exponentially under the Perry regime and our state boasts the highest number of uninsured residents. Jobs have disappeared and home prices have declined. Insurance costs have soared. Lobbyists continue to write legislation on behalf of the interests of the corporate entities they serve. Business gets the breaks and the bucks while the people get next to zip, nada, zilch.
Rick Perry is a de facto dictator who continues, with a lot of help from enabling cronies, to coverup up the execution of an innocent man. Perry refuses to take responsibility for a horrible event that happened on his watch.
So sure, Governor, carry on with Glenn and your crazy colleagues. Keep on throwing your right wing flames. President Obama and Mr. White carry some mighty big and impressive hoses. So do Democratic voters. Tip toe through the tulips and play a ukulele while you are at it. Your silly theatrical farces and nonsense will never be able to distract Texans from the fact that you are one of the worst governors in recent Texas history.
Congratulations Mr. Perry, for you have managed to beat the former Governor George W. Bush in that department.
